Description
Based on simple geometric shapes, Panton anticipated elements of Pop Art, while also emulating the elegance of Scandinavian Modernism in the execution of the bases.
PROVOKING"Most people spend their lives living in dreary, beige conformity, mortally afraid of using colors. The main purpose of my work is to provoke people into using their imagination and make their surroundings more exciting." -Verner Panton.
EXCITINGDefying gravity, the chair was both futuristic and shocking, so much so that when it was exhibited in a shop window in New York City police had to order its removal due to the traffic chaos its presence created.
COMFORTABLEThe chair's back is formed by a semicircular extension of the shell. With its additional seat cushion, the sleekly upholstered shell offers comfortable seating in a myriad of settings.
