Based on simple geometric shapes, Panton anticipated elements of Pop Art, while also emulating the elegance of Scandinavian Modernism in the execution of the bases.

EXCITINGDefying gravity, the chair was both futuristic and shocking, so much so that when it was exhibited in a shop window in New York City police had to order its removal due to the traffic chaos its presence created.
COMFORTABLEThe chair's back is formed by a semicircular extension of the shell. With its additional seat cushion, the sleekly upholstered shell offers comfortable seating in a myriad of settings.

DENMARK (February 13, 1926 - September 5, 1998) Drawing on his architectural background, Panton designed groundbreaking domestic living spaces, fusing floors, walls, furniture, lighting and textiles into wholly original and integrated interiors. Marked by Panton’s characteristic geometric shapes and intense colors, which were on the cutting edge of emerging psychedelic sensibilities, these spaces both typified his approach and sealed his legacy.
