The Bubble Style Lamp Pear feature a diverse array of lights characterized by various spherical shapes. These lamps were introduced in 1952 when George Nelson drew inspiration from a Swedish hanging lamp. Perceiving the original design as challenging to manufacture, he embarked on creating his own version by amalgamating a resinous lacquer, initially utilized by the military to protect decommissioned ships and planes, which he then expertly sprayed onto wire frames. This innovative process not only improved efficiency but also laid the foundation for the creation of several other designs that swiftly became iconic mid-century modern classics.
THE TRENDY DESIGN
Designed in 1952, the Bubble Style Lamp Pear is styled with a wire cage pattern using a steel wire mesh then a stretched plastic shade is wrapped around the spherical bubble. This is made from special material to ensure it emits subdued light and reduces glare. It will surely add a touch of softness and luminosity to the interiors.

Nelson felt that designers must be “aware of the consequences of their actions on people and society and thus cultivate a broad base of knowledge and understanding.” He was an early environmentalist, one of the first designers to take an interest in new communications technology and a powerful writer and teacher.
