Inspired by Robert Dudley Best
Dudley Best, born in 1892, came from a family involved in lighting manufacturing. Despite their history of producing traditional lamps for esteemed clients like the Titanic and the Orient Express, Robert sought a new collection that embraced avant-garde aesthetics and revolutionized lamp design. During his studies in industrial design, he befriended Walter Gropius, the Bauhaus movement founder, and sketched the iconic Bestlite design. Although the initial lamps didn't meet his expectations, they found appreciation in auto repair shops and the Royal Air Force for their functionality. Today, Bestlite remains beloved by architects and designers and is a popular choice in hotels and restaurants, cherished by those who value genuine and independent design.
