Description
At first, Arne Jacobsen designed the Ant Chair for the canteen at Novo Nordick, an international Danish healthcare company and the Ant Chair faced an unclear future as the manufacturer, Fritz Hansen concerned about its potential in the market. But Arne Jacobsen believed in his design and the Ant Chair quickly became an international success. This chair is ideally suited the human body as Jacobsen shaped the core of Danish design identity when he accommodated three different bends in one piece of plywood, simply by narrowing the back. It give a comfortable seatback, and its waterfall seatback does not press into legs.

DENMARK (February 11, 1902 - March 24, 1971) Influenced by Le Corbusier, Gunnar Asplund and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Jacobsen embraced a functionalist approach from the outset. He was among the first to introduce modernist ideas to Denmark and create industrial furniture that built upon on its craft-based design heritage. Jacobsen's work remains appealing and fresh today, combining free-form sculptural shapes with the traditional attributes of Scandinavian design, material and structural integrity.
